Heritage Plan Consultation

Local authorities may prepare plans to protect local heritage. You can have an input into the plans through consultation.

Carlow County Council is in the process of preparing the Carlow Heritage Plan 2024-29. The county wide Heritage Plan aims at giving the Strategic direction to the Heritage Officer of the needs and wants of the communities of County Carlow for their heritage, as articulated through the pre-draft consultation carried out in late 2022.

The Heritage Plan is written by the Heritage Officer with the assistance and input of the members of the Carlow Heritage Forum. The Heritage Plan is an important strategic document for the Local Authority and many of the actions cross over into the Carlow County Development Plan; the Local Economic Community Plan and the Carlow County Climate Action Plan.

Throughout the five years lifecycle of the Heritage Plan, the Heritage Officer addresses the actions listed in the plan, raises awareness of the significance of the actions and leverages funding to address the actions/assists communities secure funding to address the actions in the Heritage Plan and reviews the plan with the members of the Heritage Forum.
