Carlow County Council is responsible for the provision and maintenance of public lighting in the County. This includes on street lights, lights in housing estates that have been taken in charge, roads, parks and laneways.

Carlow County Council to invest €2.5 million in National Public Lighting Energy Efficiency Project
Carlow County Council is collaborating in a National Public Lighting Energy Efficiency Project, which will see 4,500 lights upgraded to LED across Carlow.
The national project is being rolled out on a regional basis with Carlow County Council included in the Eastern region. Kilkenny County Council is leading the project in the region.
Under this contract, 83,000 lights will be upgraded.
