27 delegates from Italy, Latvia, France, Slovenia, Romania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Ukraine visited Carlow recently as part of Interreg EU funded project InnoCom. The InnoCom project aims to make funding easier to access, foster innovation, and improve communication.
Speaking about the visit, Cllr. Fergal Browne, Cathaoirleach of Carlow County Council said, “I am delighted that Carlow ishosting this visit as part of its EU Project work”. Fergal continued to say “By participating in EU projects, we not only strengthen our economies but also forge deeper social connections through the exchange of knowledge and culture. Every visit to another country fosters collaboration, innovation, and mutual understanding that benefits both our communities and the broader European Union”
The event served as a platform for sharing insights and fostering collaboration among the various regions. As part of the programme, speakers from Carlow County Council and stakeholders delivered insightful presentations, offering attendees a comprehensive overview of the area and an in-depth explanation of the local planning process. At the Local Enterprise Office, visitors were introduced to a range of support initiatives aimed at advancing local business growth. Local SMEs that have benefited from these initiatives also shared their success stories.
The event also included several site visits to notable locations such as South East Technological University and Carlow College. Attendees toured four thriving local businesses, gaining a first-hand understanding of the region’s economic landscape and innovative spirit.
The exchange culminated with the prestigious Carlow Chamber Business Awards, where attendees were welcomed as special guests. The awards ceremony was a highlight of the two-day event, as participants joined in celebrating the achievements of local businesses, cheering on both the nominees and winners.
