Artists in Residence Programme

Local authorities, together with an artist in residence, may run talks, lectures, workshops and art classes to promote an appreciation of art.

Carlow County Council Arts Service engages artists through the Artists in Residence Programme in partnership with the Arts Council of Ireland, County Carlow Library Services and Carlow College.  The artists in residence programme focusses specifically on writers’ professional development and have run talks, lectures, workshops, and art classes to promote an appreciation of writing.

A number of writers have been supported under this programme led by Carlow Arts Service that have included Screenwriter Sean Hardy, Playwright Bryan Delaney, Writer John MacKenna, Writer Peter Murphy, Screenwriter, Oonagh Kearney, Playwright, Darren Donohue, Spoken Word Artist Colm Keegan, Poet, Jessica Traynor, Memoir Writer Arnold Thomas Fanning, Song Writers Mick Hanly and Fiach Moriarty and Screenwriter Marc-Ivan O’Gorman.   In addition, the Arts Service has supported writers on shorter term projects that included poets Enda Wyley and Poet, Christodoulos Makris.

A new Writer in Residence Programme will be advertised here in the Autumn 2023.
